Schools want to cut back on language learning for lack of funds. Why not just help kids learn and forget the school?

The opportunity for kids to learn languages is all to often decided by bureaucrats as in this article. The only learning model these bureaucrats know is the expensive classroom model, defended by the public teaching industry. My hope is that the possibilities that the Internet, devices like the iPod, the iPad, and of course LingQ, are creating, will make this kind of monolithic approach to language education a thing of the past one day.
